Who Is to Blame? Isn’t This Just About Climate Change or Something Else?

While the years of droughts and overbuilding are certainly contributors to the devastation of these recent fires, the sad truth is these factors alone do not appear to be the core reason for the fires.

Investigators with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, have already traced the origin of the 2017 fires back to PG&E’s equipment. Even more concerning, in 11 of the 16 2017 fires for which Cal Fire has issued reports, investigators found reason to believe that PG&E had broken state safety rules.

News just came out that PG&E submitted a report regarding an electrical incident just 15 minutes before the Camp Fire flames were first reported on November 8, 2018.

The CA wildfires are no exception, but change will not occur unless we speak up together and take meaningful legal action.
