I Thought Lyft Was the “Safer” Option.

We totally hear you. There’s been a lot of press out there in the world about Uber and how dangerous it may be to get into one. And it’s not just about accidents or creepy drivers – it’s full on, serious sexual assault. So you thought you’d like Lyft, right? They are a smaller operation, and hopefully not nearly as heartless/evil as Uber the massive tech company.

Well…not really.

For instance, Lyft’s safety report has 2,651 incidents of sexual assault from 2020 to 2022. While Lyft states that this data means the issue is very rare, they aren’t taking into account instances where the survivor didn’t report the assault – as many women are scared or embarrassed to come forward. So the true number is likely far higher.

Regardless, just one Lyft sexual assault is too many.

It Wasn’t Just You. We Hear Every Day from Women Who Have Been Sexually Assaulted by Lyft Drivers.

“I ordered the ride after being discharged from the hospital. I was on medication. The driver offered to walk me to my house and was being very persistent. I was not able to move fast enough – the driver was already opening the back door. I felt uncomfortable and kept repeating myself, and telling him that I am ok… he ushered me in and closed the door behind him. He sexually assaulted me. After he left I locked the door, showered and cried myself to sleep.”
“Thank you so much for getting back to me!!! I appreciate this more than you know not only on my behalf but on behalf of other women, women who are disabled and the disabled community and women who are elderly, we thank you and support you for fighting for our voices to be heard so that someday things will change!!!!”
“I appreciate you so much for all your help I can’t believe something is finally gonna get done about this. I have lived a whole year with this trauma held in.”

Is There a Lyft Lawsuit?

As of February 2026, a multi-district litigation was created for Lyft cases. These means that Lyft sexual assault cases have been consolidated before one judge, which helps to streamline the litigation process. This will also pave the way for potentially thousands of Lyft lawsuits to be fined in the court, and help move the cases forward.

The goal of the cases is to do more than just obtain compensation for survivors, but also to:

  • Force more comprehensive screening and training for Lyft drivers
  • Require cameras in the vehicles
  • Improve access to emergency assistance
  • Streamline reporting policies
  • Better support services for Lyft assault survivors

What Does the Recent Uber $8.5 Million Verdict Have to Do With These Cases?

While the precise implications are yet to be seen, it is possible that the outcome of the recent Uber trial may have partially set the stage for the future of the Lyft litigation. However, keep in mind that even though the issues may be very similar, Lyft cases are part of a separate group of cases (since they are technically against a different company) and the exact circumstances of the situation are somewhat different.

Rest assured – your Lyft lawyer will do everything in their power to utilize the verdict in the Uber cases to best help your case. Remember: the legal system loves precedence!

What Can A Case for Women Do?

Our trauma-informed team has talked to more than 23,000 women about possible rideshare sexual assault lawsuits. As of winter 2026, we’ve helped more than 4,000 women join these lawsuits, connecting them with sexual assault lawyers who work on contingency. That means you pay nothing upfront and the lawyers only receive payment after they obtain a positive result in your case.

We’ve invested with a consuming passion in these lawsuits because we believe women should be safe when using a rideshare service. Period.

It won’t be for nothing: it could be monumental.

WE WEAR THIS BADGE PROUDLY. Because, in a time when legal services are still dominated by men, only a Women Owned Business can bring the woman’s perspective to issues that disproportionately affect women.

We are the ones, far more than men, who are injured by sexual assault, financial scams, the gender pay gap, toxic chemicals, and the misguided practices of powerful pharmaceutical companies.
