Is a Predator Using Roblox to Talk to Your Child?

After hearing from 6,000 petrified parents about Roblox and Sexual Predators, we’re livid. Not just about rampant grooming, sex abuse, and sextortion (blackmail) that are blindsiding kids on Roblox, but the increased number of cases where minors are groomed for in-person meetups, kidnapped, trafficked, and physically assaulted by someone they met on Roblox (and, in many cases, later moved to less regulated platforms like Discord).1

If your child was harmed by a predator they met on Roblox (or Discord) – please reach out to us.

KNOW THIS: It’s not bad parenting.

“Imagine your 10-year-old is in their room, playing an online game like Roblox. Now imagine the “child” they think they’re chatting with is actually an adult with deviant, disturbing, and dangerous intentions – ranging from abuse to encouraging suicide.”2

Seen the News? More Stories About Roblox Sexual Abuse Are Coming to Light.

When a company sells a product to kids, it has a moral obligation to make that product safe, especially when it hypes “parental controls” as a way to keep a platform “safe” for young users.

Roblox likes to brag about its safety technology, but hundreds of Roblox lawsuits, filed by families of hurt kids as of October 2025, three state attorneys general, along with a torrent of breaking headlines – suggest a disturbing pattern unchecked by Roblox executives for years.3, 4, 5

“Roblox even uses games called ‘Diddy Party,’ ‘Survive Diddy,’ ‘JeffEpsteinSupporter,’ and ‘Escape to Epstein Island,’ to reference trafficking.”6

Predators may groom a child for months to gain their trust before suggesting an in-person meet; they may drive long distances to kidnap a child and then sexually assault or even traffick them. Here are some recent chilling stories + there are more:

September 2025

The families of two Alabama girls, one 14 and the other 11, said they met predators on Roblox and Discord who coaxed them into sending explicit images in exchange for Robux (Roblox virtual digital currency). Their parents have filed civil lawsuits against Roblox and Discord for inadequately protecting children from predators.7

“The Roblox predator lawsuit [concerning the 11-year-old] claims Roblox’s age verification and safety protocols were ineffective in stopping the alleged predator from grooming the young girl, and eventually attempting to meet up with her even after he was arrested and warned not to have any contact with her after manipulating her into sending him sexually explicit images through Discord.” 8

August 2025

An Iowa family sued Roblox for allegedly allowing their 13-year-old daughter to be kidnapped by a 37-year-old man who groomed her on Roblox; he took her from her home in Iowa and drove her to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he sexually assaulted her.9

July 2025

Parents in California filed a Roblox assault lawsuit alleging that Roblox misrepresents itself as safe: their 11-year-old daughter was convinced by a predator to meet him in person. He drove to her home, then took her hundreds of miles away where he violently assaulted her.10

Since April 2025

Three state AGs have filed Roblox grooming lawsuits for failing to protect underage children from predators: Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. 11, 12, 13

A Case for Women has helped numerous families whose lives have been turned upside down after suicides, self harm and/or sexual assault related to what they thought was simple “game playing” on Roblox. Sadly, these are not isolated incidents.

The New York Times Reports Tragic Suicide Related to Roblox Sexual Abuse.

In September 2025, the New York Times published an article on the suicide of an autistic 15-year-old, Ethan Dallas, who met a “friend” – a cute girl – on Roblox and eventually sent her explicit photos. Turns out the “girl” was really 37-year-old Timothy O’Connor from Florida, a serial predator engaged in sextortion, an exploding cybercrime that sees predators-in-disguise coaxing underage users into sharing sexually explicit material or performing sexual acts, then blackmailing them to keep the images offline.

Ethan’s mother, Becca Dallas, sued Roblox on September 12, 2025, for wrongful death, accusing the company’s “design and lack of safety guardrails, not the content of the game itself,” for enabling predators.

“I’m sorry. I feel so bad about myself. I feel like I’m worthless… Promise you won’t get made if I tell you?” Ethan wrote before confessing to his mom at Denny’s.

Lawyers for the family said they wanted to establish a legal precedent that can hold Roblox and social media companies accountable for predators on their platforms.

How Big Is This Problem?

Try astronomical. Sources estimate Roblox has at least 111.8 million daily active users, a statistic that leaped 40% between 2024 and 2025. And at least 40%, or around 40 million, of these are children under 13, as young as six.14

Meantime, hundreds of Roblox lawsuits have been filed. The lawsuits seek damages for Roblox’s alleged enabling of assault, wrongful death (in the case of suicides), and/ or severe mental trauma from adult sexual predators who pretended to be kids themselves and then groomed, sent indecent photos, asked for indecent photos, sextorted, or even convinced children to meet up in person.15

But Didn’t Roblox Add New Safety Features?

Yes, and Roblox sexual abuse lawsuits are precisely why the company keeps rolling out changes, but that doesn’t take away from all the kids who have already been hurt. Plus, the efficacy of these programs is still up in the air. Roblox announced in July 2025 that it was stepping up security measures with new AI facial age estimation and ID age verification, in partnership with IARC (International Age Rating Coalition) and Persona (identity verification company): AI can potentially match a human face from a digital image or video frame against a database of faces to conclude if a player is a certain age before permitting filtered chatting (13) or unfiltered chatting (18).16, 17

“Using a combination of facial age estimation technology, ID age verification, and verified parental consent, this process will provide a more accurate measure of a user’s age than simply relying on what someone types in when they create an account.”

– Roblox chief safety officer Matt Kaufman.18

In late 2024, the company publicized tighter messaging rules for under-13s + remote account controls. Again, not helpful once the conversation is moved to a more private platform.19

There’s also mounting international pressure: Turkey, Oman, Qatar, and China, have taken hard action to deal with the fallout, but not yet the United States.20

What Can I Do If My Child Was Sexually Abused by Someone They Met on Roblox?

Stop all contact and save everything. Keeping evidence is vital! Please screenshot DMs, usernames, email addresses, receipts of Robux purchases, timestamps. And report in-app + to cops, then save your report confirmations.

Again. PLEASE do not blame yourself! Parental controls were never enough to keep your kids safe, and you’re not to blame. As the New York Times noted, kids can still communicate with predators (not knowing who they’re really talking to) and predators can coach kids to turn off parental controls. What happened to your child on Roblox was out of your control.21

“Last year [2024], a Snap Inc. survey of more than 6,000 young social media users in six countries including the US found that almost half said they had been targeted in an online sextortion scheme. One-third of those said they had shared an intimate photo.”22

I can’t thank ACFW enough for the work you do in connecting parents who feel a lack of support and answers for these types of cases. This is a new type of victimization that leaves parents feeling alone and someone like ACFW and their law firms almost feel too good to be true. I can’t believe this is real and true so that parents can get help.

I told her mother that I wanted to sue Roblox for this matter but something in me knew that my daughter wasn’t the only child exposed to this type of behavior online and I feel some relief because the day is finally going to come.

He lied about his age and manipulated my child into meeting up with him at an abandoned house. He had been grooming her for months.

She first met the abuser on Roblox in the game Adopt Me. She was then trafficked in Florida.

She was asked to share intimate photos of herself on Roblox in 2017. Homeland security alerted us of it because she was exposed.

How Can A Case for Women Help in a Roblox Sexual Abuse Lawsuit?

Our goal is to help families whose children have been hurt by online predators and shine a light on the enormous scale – to ultimately pressure Roblox to change the way it operates.
We stand with survivors of online exploitation. We collaborate only with lawyers who work on contingency, which allows anyone to retain skilled legal assistance regardless of financial situation. You pay your attorneys nothing until the case has reached a positive resolution. End of story.

If your child’s life (and yours, by association) has been derailed by Roblox’s failure to protect children, we want to help you hold Roblox accountable.

If your child has been hurt, it’s our thing to help you make it through. Please reach out to us, 24/7/365.

WE WEAR THIS BADGE PROUDLY. Because, in a time when legal services are still dominated by men, only a Women Owned Business can bring the woman’s perspective to issues that disproportionately affect women.

We are the ones, far more than men, who are injured by sexual assault, financial scams, the gender pay gap, toxic chemicals, and the misguided practices of powerful pharmaceutical companies.
