Who Is Dr. Mark Mulholland and Why Are Women Coming Forward Now?
Between August 2025 and February 2026, more than 100 sexual assault lawsuits have been filed in Washington state against OB/GYN Dr. Mark Mulholland. The accusations include unnecessarily “rough and aggressive” pelvic procedures and unauthorized surgical procedures that turned personal.1
The Dr. Mulholland lawsuit began when the Washington state medical board finally charged him with unprofessional conduct on April 29, 2025.1 But the reports and refusal to “listen to patients” started way before that. Since at least 2005, women who saw Mulholland were rebuffed when they contacted his employer, Kadlec Associated Physicians for Women/Providence Regional Medical Center in Richland, WA, with reports of sexual, emotional, and medical abuse.2 Not anymore.
If your gut tells you Mulholland abused you or mishandled your treatment, please contact us for a private consultation. You can absolutely remain anonymous. We are 100% for confidentiality. Just remember your voice doesn’t have to have a face to be heard.
“I knew what he did was without and not within the standard of care. I received a response from them [Kadlec] saying that someone would be in contact. No one ever called me back.” 3
What Are the Allegations
Against Dr. Mark Mulholland?
According to the Seattle Times, “The lawsuits come amid an investigation by the Washington Medical Commission that so far has resulted in the panel imposing restrictions on Mulholland’s medical license. Mulholland still has an active physician and surgeon license in Washington, but, per the commission, is not allowed to work with female patients while the state investigation continues.4
He is charged with sexual abuse + unnecessary medical procedures performed on women during his more than 20-year practice at Kadlec. Patients who were harmed complained to administrators repeatedly for years, resulting in zero action.5
This included (at least that we know of):
- Inappropriate touching of patients, often under the guise of medical care
- Sexual comments that made patients uncomfortable
- Performing non-consensual or unnecessary surgical procedures on patients
“Everybody knows, the hospital’s known for decades,” he said. “They do nothing. No one is going to call you back.” 6
What Does Sexual Assault by a Doctor Look Like?
It can be so subtle – a similar maneuver, but a completely different vibe – which is why so many offenders claim it wasn’t assault but rather medically necessary treatment.
The complaints against Mulholland are the latest in a troubling national trend of medical facilities failing to protect patients from doctor sexual assault.
Physician abuse is stomach-churning because it betrays a patient’s trust in a situation that requires intimate body parts to be touched by a stranger in a non-intimate setting for non-intimate purposes.
The NIH says of predatory doctors, “Their seniority and expertise in their field meant that their unusual behavior was not challenged by colleagues or patients.” 8
The Federation of State Medical Boards/FSMB defines physician sexual misconduct as “any behavior that exploits the physician-patient relationship in a sexual way.” It can be verbal, physical, or virtual—basically, if you felt uncomfortable, then something wasn’t right.9
Where Did Dr. Mulholland Practice?
His employer for at least two decades, Kadlec Clinic—Associated Physicians for Women (part of Kadlec Regional Medical Center/ Kadlec Health System, affiliated with Providence St. Joseph Hospital)—is located in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland). Kadlec said in April 2025 that Mulholland was no longer practicing, but by fall 2025, it has yet to be confirmed whether he is still technically employed.11
“Respondents’ behaviors toward patients and staff have often been rationalized, normalized and minimized, resulting in patient and staff complaints being dismissed and not taken seriously,” said the Washington Medical Commission’s statement of charges against Mulholland, Kadlec, and Providence. “Complaints go unanswered.” 12
How Can I File a Dr. Mark Mulholland Lawsuit?
When you contact us, we don’t just listen— we hear you and gently walk you through the first steps, explaining in simplest terms as we go. This isn’t just about Dr. Mark Mulholland. Physician sexual assault is deeply emblematic of flaws throughout the entire healthcare system. We want to stop it NOW before it becomes even more normalized.
We’ve been going up against major institutions that enabled predatory MDs who have used their reputation and power to abuse patients. The entire system, not just Dr. Mulholland, must be held responsible through civil legal action.
As dozens of Mulholland’s patients have noted, their frustration over repeatedly receiving no response to complaints led them to turn to civil litigation out of sheer desperation.13
Patients grew angry and lost confidence that Kadlec and Providence would take their concerns seriously. After hearing that “everybody knows” about Mulholland’s behavior and that “nothing happens,” one patient realized that filing a lawsuit was her only remaining option for justice.” 14
