At Sonoma Academy, one of the Bay Area’s most auspicious private high schools where the tuition approaches $50,000, rumors and open secrets swirled for years about Marco Morrone’s confusing misconduct with emotionally impressionable female students, “Marco’s girls,” they were called: 34 of them between 2002-2020.

Seven of these former students, now in their 20s and 30s, are seeking a reckoning against the school because they say Morrone betrayed their trust as a teacher and mentor grooming them to play along when he breached appropriate boundaries, while school officials did nothing to address their complaints but further harass them through rejection and mockery.
