It’s Our Birthday! And We Are Celebrating YOU.

By May 3, 2019From Susan

It was just three years ago when A Case for Women opened its virtual doors with a simple mission: helping women take legal action that could change their lives.

It’s Our Birthday!

What has happened since is anything but simple. It is also beyond anything that we first contemplated.

Sure, three years ago we knew that women were disproportionately hurt by prescription drugs and medical devices. We knew that the gender pay gap was real. And we knew that most women, although the primary victims of the kind of harm that could be at least monetarily remedied by civil legal action, had either no interest in or no clue about the what, why and how of using their voices to seek justice.

What we didn’t know was how much the world was going to change.

Fast forward to the awakening of women (both Democrats and Republicans), the indictments of Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and Larry Nassar, the public debate about the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, the undoing of Les Moonves and Kevin Spacey — plus the seemingly continual parade of celebrity sexual abusers and voilà, A Case for Women is at the epicenter of a gender revolution the likes of which we have never seen.

As a result of this revolution and the concurrent tipping point on attitudes regarding sexual abuse, we are now receiving as many inquiries daily about sexual assault as we are about injuries from prescription drugs. What’s even more impressive is what women are saying to us. No matter what the issue, the fragile tone of “it must have been my fault” has shifted to the powerful voice of “I want to do something to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

As of today we have listened to over 46,000 women speak their truth (and sometimes their deepest secrets) to us; we have helped over 8,000 women (and some men too!) take significant legal action by connecting them to law firms that care; we have reached over 96 million women with critical information about issues that truly affect their lives and the lives of their families and we have, hopefully, saved a few women along the way from the pain of feeling alone.

So, to all of YOU, we say thank you. It’s Our Birthday! And We Are Celebrating YOU: the women who followed us on Facebook, the women who trusted us with their stories, and the women who boldly decided to take legal action.

We wouldn’t have made it to this day without you.
